Claire Buffham

Head of LEARN

Claire is a Director of Education for SEND at Community Inclusive Trust. As part of her role Claire set up and is responsible for the Lincolnshire Education and Research Network Teaching School Alliance (LEARN). Her vision for LEARN is to create a central hub to meet the SEN needs of all Lincolnshire schools, and she has worked in education for 26 years, specifically the SEN sector since 2001.

Emily Walker

Director of LEARN
Regional SEND Lead
for Whole School SEND (WSS) –
East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Humber

Emily has worked in education for 23 years, having taught in a mixture of mainstream primary and special secondary schools in various locations and roles, from teacher through to senior leader. She strongly believes that all children deserve the best possible chance to succeed in life and is passionate about supporting teachers and leaders in making this happen.

For the latter half of Emily’s career, she has focused on working with learners with Special Educational Needs. Initially as an Assistant Headteacher within a special secondary school and then for the last 3 years as the Director of a Teaching School specialising in SEND.

Within these roles Emily has held responsibilities across a broad spectrum of activities, from curriculum development to the management and development of NQT’s/ITT’s. Her ability to analyse and interpret data lead to a secondment to develop and roll out a “data dashboard” for use across a multi-academy trust, bringing together all facets of school life into an easily understood summary.
Emily now runs LEARN, a Teaching School in Lincolnshire that specialises in SEND. Actively involved with the Local Authority and the Lincolnshire Teaching Schools Together (LTT), Emily supports the alignment of the SEND training provision and requirement across the areas active projects to raise the profile of SEND throughout the offer.

Through her growing reputation as a specialist in the SEND field and the successful delivery of a number of high-profile projects within her current role, Emily has recently joined the East Midland South Yorkshire and Humber Whole School SEND Team where she looks forward to continuing to champion SEND across the region.

Dana Phillips

Office Manager

Dana joined us as Office manager in September 2020. Dana oversees LEARN finance, training courses and any general office queries. Dana has also recently qualified as a First Aid Trainer and has delivered courses this academic year.

This will be Dana’s second year working within education. Dana has previously been a mortgage manager for a large banking corporation and most recently was a medical secretary
within the NHS therefore brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role.

Chris Lincoln

Communications and Marketing

Chris has worked in education for 10 years, previously as a Health Mentor where he supported several schools across Lincolnshire. In more recent years, Chris has transitioned into PR and Communications, working with schools and football clubs on a number of different projects.

Chris joined LEARN in Autumn 2020 and is responsible for training course promotion and content creation, such as flyers, booklets and videos. He is also working on various digital projects across LEARN and the county.

Sarah Robertson

Strategic Teaching and Learning Leader

Sarah has worked in education for the last 16 years in a number of different roles and settings.

She has previously worked in primary and secondary settings as a teacher, NCETM Maths AST, Youth Liaison Officer for an Education and Military charity, a SENCo and as a senior leader. Within her role Sarah is also the lead ECF facilitator of LEARN, supporting ECTs across the county.
